InterAct Story Theatre is proud to announce that we have been awarded a fourth Wheaton Cultural Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC), as well as grant funding from the Maryland State Arts Council, to bring InterAct Story Theatre's Wheaton Family Theatre Series back to town for a season 4!
Season Four of the InterAct Story Theatre Wheaton Family Theatre Series will include a variety of performances and family literacy events throughout the year, including theatre, music, dance, opera and story theatre. The season will culminate in May 2019 with InterAct's Third Annual KidStory Theatre Festival, a celebration of writing by kids for kids.
Join us at the Wheaton Interim Library for an interactive Literary Fiesta as InterAct Story Theatre's Artistic Director Ali Oliver-Krueger leads kids and adults in an interactive Literacy Fiesta, bringing stories to life through creative drama ...we'll act, sing, and dance our way through favorite folk tales! In these interactive workshops, kids and adults work together to explore a folk tale or children's story, act out the stories in our own words, and maybe even make up stories of our own!
This event is completely FREE and open to the public--but registration in advance is strongly recommended! Workshop space is limited, and the library has set up a registration system so you can reserve your spots at the Literacy Fiesta. Last year and this January, our Literacy Fiestas were so popular that we were at room capacity and sadly had to turn people away at the door....we don't want that to happen to you! You can register your family for the Literacy Fiesta in advance by calling the library at (240) 777-0678 or by visiting in person. If you're not able to sign up in advance, please feel free to come on by... free tickets will be available (while they last) up to the program's start time.
The Family Literacy Fiesta event starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 10. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.. If you're in the area, please come join us at Wheaton Interim Library, 2400 Arcola Avenue, Wheaton, Maryland for a celebration of books and stories! Best for ages 3 and up.
A classic, family-friendly clown duo inspired by the golden age of Circus. Pinot is the authoritarian clown in fancy clothes and white cone hat. Augustine is the appealing red-nosed bumbler who punctures his pomposity. Their show bubbles over with physical comedy, virtuosity and musical surprises from the sublime to the ridiculous: from lyrical melodies on a musical saw to pratfalls and a whoopee cushion. Best for ages 3 and up.
